Garden Oaks

A neighborhood with the quintessential family-oriented lifestyle.

"For those who want the amenities and culture of the big city but prefer living on tree-lined streets with a small-town feel, Garden Oaks has much to offer."

Nestled among towering pines and grand magnolias, Garden Oaks is defined by unique architecture, large, tree-filled lots and a small-town feel. Edward L. Crain developed the area in 1937 and made aesthetics a high priority with the creation of rambling, curved streets and no curbs or gutters, adding to the country feel of this close-knit community. The area’s earliest homes were mostly pier and beam cottages, but a diverse range of homes were later built – including plantation, ranch and traditional style homes.

The Garden Oaks Civic Club is an active part of the community, hosting a home tour every year to showcase recent renovations, coordinating the security patrol and maintaining the pocket parks that are sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. Located just north of Loop 610, residents of Garden Oaks have easy access to just about every part of Houston. For those who want the amenities and culture of the big city but prefer living on tree-lined streets with a small-town feel, Garden Oaks has much to offer.
