Developed in the 1940’s along the banks of Braes Bayou lies Braes Heights/Braeswood Place, just south of West University and conveniently located minutes from the Medical Center, Rice University and downtown. This inside-the-loop neighborhood has recently been known more for its bouts with Mother Nature than its ranch style homes. In 2001, Tropical Storm Allison hit Braes Heights/Braeswood Place hard, but rejuvenation came swiftly with the help of the Stella Link Redevelopment Association.
 
New construction, improvements and remodeling are now the landscape of Braes Heights. Through grass-roots efforts, residents revitalized the neighborhood by erecting the Weekly YMCA, the Karl Young Park and a state-of-the-art library. Through it all, Braes Heights/Braeswood Place is and continues to be the “place” to live.
