Shannon Skurner has served as in-house legal counsel for Greenwood King since 2021, bringing nearly three decades of experience in real estate law, contract negotiation, and title insurance.
Prior to joining Greenwood King, Shannon practiced as an associate attorney in the real estate section at Jackson Walker, LLP. She also held key roles as underwriting counsel and corporate counsel for two national title insurance underwriters, where she worked closely with direct operations and agents throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Texas at Austin and her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 1997. A seventh-generation Texan, she was born in Mineral Wells and raised in San Antonio, and she remains deeply connected to her Texas roots.
An active leader in the legal and real estate communities, Shannon is a Life Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and currently serves as Chair of the Risk Management Committee for the Houston Association of Realtors. She has a long-standing commitment to service, including past leadership as Chair of the Houston Young Lawyers Animal Welfare Committee and her current role as Associate Vice President of Young Men for the Young Men’s Service League.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Jim, have been married for 20 years and are the proud parents of two sons, Vaughn and Grant. They live in Houston with their rescue dogs, Max and Mabel.
We are firm believers in active participation in the local community and support a high level of volunteerism with significant financial contributions to schools, organizations and community programs.
