Katy Casey charts her course, both professionally and personally, by a famous Churchill quote: “Never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
A Springfield, Massachusetts native, Katy transitioned from a career in sports journalism and athletic training to residential real estate with Greenwood King Properties. “I chose to join Greenwood King because in a landscape of nationally-owned real estate firms, it is a local, independent, high-end company founded by and owned by amazing women,” she says.
Highly ethical and fiercely loyal, Katy follows through on every commitment with enthusiasm, critical thinking, and tireless effort. She is exceptionally discreet, protecting her clients’ sensitive personal and financial information throughout their transaction and beyond. “I stay with my clients every step of the way as their transaction progresses, and I never forget that I am working to successfully complete one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.”
A former competitive long-distance runner, Katy brings an impressive record as an athlete and athletic trainer. During her 30-year membership in the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), she has received numerous accolades which include the National Service Award and the World Health Organization World No Tobacco Day Award. The International Olympic Committee chose Katy to carry the Olympic torch in the days leading up to the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.
After graduation from Houston’s Cathedral High School, Katy earned a B.S. from Springfield College in Massachusetts and an M.S. from Ithaca College in New York. She minored in sports journalism at Springfield and wrote professionally for Sports Illustrated for Kids, Women’s Sports and Fitness, and other magazines and newspapers.
Katy, her husband, teenage son, and two trained therapy dogs live in Houston’s inner-Loop in a 1930s vintage home which they restored. When time permits, she volunteers for St. Paul’s Methodist School, the School for Young Children, and Briarwood School. Additional commitments include the board of Adoptive Families of Houston; Paws for Therapy; Faithful Paws; The Women’s Home; and The Lighthouse. Her favorite pastimes are walking, swimming, discovering new restaurants, and, most importantly, learning. “Learning is my favorite pastime,” Katy says. “Lifelong learning and reinventing yourself are a must for every individual.”
